In January, the company successfully gained OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation following the implementation of a new occupational health & safety management system developed by the company, and delivered by Health & Safety Manager, Mark Johnson. The accreditation sits alongside Arc Energy’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 3834-2, ASME U Stamp, National Board R Stamp and Investor In People awards.

Managing director Alan Robinson says achieving OHSAS 18001 required a cultural change within the business and a significant commitment from all personnel in terms of attitudes and values. In return he believes it will raise working efficiencies, performance and morale by creating a safer environment in which to work, with the added benefit of broadening future business opportunities within the oil & gas, nuclear and renewable energy industries.

2012 has seen many new faces join the Arc Energy team, with high levels of work resulting in the company employing several new welders and production staff to meet increased demand. The company has also taken on two new project managers to aid the flow of work from order through to delivery. A substantial investment in a new FARO Measuring Arm has also increased Arc Energy’s precision inspection standards.

Alan Robinson says that in a challenging business environment the company has continued to invest in equipment and people, allowing the company to develop. “During the recession we’ve planned for the future” he says: “spending £500,000 on two new Rotating Head welding machines extending the size and scope of corrosion resistant coating contracts we can handle is just one example of this.”

In March, Arc Energy’s new website was launched at www.arcenergy.co.uk. The site offers visitors an overview of Arc Energy Resources and includes details of its latest weld overlay cladding techniques and procedures for protection against corrosion and wear, and information on the company’s specialist fabrication services for components including ASME standard pressure vessels, spools and wellhead equipment.

Socially, the Arc Energy Resources golf tournaments regularly continue, despite the recent dismal weather. The latest round was held at Woodlands Golf Club on a wet and windy Friday afternoon, but enthusiasm won through and a good time was had by all.

Meanwhile, Arc Energy’s charitable side has been recognised by presentation of The Payroll Giving Gold Award 2012, in celebration of the organisation's decision to foster a culture of philanthropy and committed giving in the workplace. In addition, Arc Energy Resources is now officially a Bronze Supporter of the Helping Local Children to Play Safe and Stay Safe Campaign.
