Quality Manager

Engineering runs in Jenny's family, including her son!

Each Day is Different

Much like the engineering industry itself, Jenny’s role as Quality Manager varies on a daily basis. From being the first point of contact for customers, to managing Quality Inspectors who deal with day to day visual and dimensional issues, the role requires a lot of flexibility and people management skills. The Quality department are currently working on ensuring Arc Energy conforms to the updated ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management standards, and recently achieved approval as a Tier 1 Supplier to Rolls Royce for welding.

Luckily, the variety is what Jenny enjoys most about her role:

“I love how each day is completely different, I would find it difficult doing the same thing day after day. The challenge is to prioritise, do the best job we can and meet the expectations of our clients.”

Blood and Sweat

Arc Energy is a relatively small company, but we pride ourselves on attracting, developing and retaining the best people in the industry.

It was the size of the company, and the opportunities due to this, that made Jenny want to work for Arc Energy when given the choice:

“I was offered a similar role at a global car company as well as Arc Energy once I graduated. My lecturers were pushing me to choose the car company as they are a global, prestigious brand. But I could tell that I would just become another number there. I wouldn't be given responsibilities and progress quickly.

“I chose to join Arc Energy and I definitely made the right decision.”

Jenny hit the ground running and in no time showed the desire and skills to become Quality Manager at Arc Energy. She has been with us for ten years and doesn’t plan on going anywhere:

“I am a ‘life-timer.’ I don't see myself going anywhere else. I’ve put my blood and sweat into the company and love to see it progressing.”

The Future is Nuclear

Arc Energy is certainly progressing. Our solid foundations in the oil and gas sectors have allowed us to develop our knowledge and branch into a wide range of new and exciting industries. Jenny reveals where she sees Arc Energy succeeding in the future:

“I see more of our work in the nuclear industry. Arc Energy is moving into other markets. We used to see ourselves as an ‘oil and gas’ company but this has changed.

“We have accreditations to work in the rail and nuclear industries. As soon as we achieved the Rolls Royce approval and BS EN 15085 Rail industry certification, we started receiving lots of enquiries. Arc Energy’s future looks very promising.”

A Family of Engineers

It is no surprise that Jenny pursued a career in engineering. Her husband, mother, father, uncle and grandfather all have a history in engineering. It seems that this passion has been passed on to the next generation, too:

“I would love to see my son as an engineer. He is only 15 months but already has his own little workshop with hammers and saws. He even tries to get hold of his Daddy’s drill! All the signs of an inquisitive engineer are there already!”

Perhaps we will be seeing another member of the Veneer family joining the Arc Energy family sooner than we think!
